MISportsNow is putting the spotlight on northern Michigan high school senior student-athletes who had their seasons cut short due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Shepherd senior Trevor Crawford will be staying close to home this fall as he continues his schooling and baseball career at Mid Michigan College.

Crawford put together a solid junior campaign that saw him record 71 strikeouts and a 2.38 earned run average in 66 1/3 innings pitched.

Crawford says his familiarly with Mid Michigan’s program made it an easy choice.

“It’s close to home and I know people who are going to be going there, too, so I’m going to start off right away and I’ll have a connection with some of the guys already there,” Crawford said. “I want to see where my game can get. I’d like to see what these coaches can do for me because talking with them, I hope I move on after this and build myself up.”

The 2021 baseball season will be Mid Michigan’s third.

After two years at Mid Michigan, Crawford hopes to continue his baseball career at a four-year college.
