As the defending Northwoods League champion Traverse City Pit Spitters prepare to open their 2020 season, they’ll have 12 members returning from last year’s roster that broke several league records.

Reigning Northwoods League Pitcher of the Year Andrew Hoffman returns after going a perfect 8-0 with a 1.08 ERA as a starting pitcher last summer. He’s joined by infielder Mario Camilletti who led the team with 29 RBI and a .297 batting average and catcher Andrew Hoffman who posted a .997 fielding percentage in 46 games.

“You talk about Hoffman helping out with the pitching staff, Mario and Proctor on the position side, and (Christian) Fausty and (Evan) Maday,” Pit Spitters manager Josh Rebandt said. “You got guys that understand how it works. They understand what we’ve talked about a lot, like the culture type stuff that is huge for me, and they know how that stuff operates. The guys that are new can kind of just sit back and watch for a couple days to soak it in and within a couple days these guys are all going to be best friends.”

Single game tickets went on sale Thursday morning, with 500 fans allowed entry per game.

The Pit Spitters open their season by hosting the Great Lakes Resorters next Wednesday.

First pitch from Turtle Creek Stadium is 7:05 p.m.
