Pit Spitters Welcome O’Boyle to Pitching Staff

Following a two week pause to the Northwoods League’s Northern Michigan Pod season, the Traverse City Pit Spitters and Great Lakes Resorters are back on the field after some creative rearranging.

That creative rearranging has called for some Pit Spitters to join the Resorters and others to be brought in, including Fort Wayne native and Davenport University redshirt junior Dalton O’Boyle.

A pitcher for the Pit Spitters, O’Boyle was recruited to Traverse City by Pit Spitters manager and former Davenport assistant coach Josh Rebandt.

O’Boyle had an offer to join the squad last fall, but just now finds himself in Traverse City following the two week break because of the coronavirus.

“I would have liked to be here right away and I would have liked to play the entire season perfectly fine, but we don’t live in a perfect world. It was a little bit of an adjustment,” O’Boyle said. “The biggest thing is just trying to get to know the guys. A week and a half late to a summer-ball program can be tough to get the guys and get to know names and stuff. Still have maybe half the names still to go.”

The Pit Spitters are back in action Wednesday against the Resorters at 7:05 p.m. from Turtle Creek Stadium
