Senior Spotlight: Gould to Continue Track and Field Career at LSSU

MISportsNow is putting the spotlight on northern Michigan high school senior student-athletes who had their seasons cut short due to the coronavirus pandemic.

SANFORD — Sanford Meridian’s Maddi Gould will continue her track and field career at Lake Superior State next year, ready to compete in shot put and discus.

Gould had success with the Mustangs, ranking in the top 10 in her regional throughout high school until she had her senior season taken away from her due to the coronavirus pandemic.

She’s looking forward to another opportunity to compete at the college level.

“I’m really excited because it will be something completely different than what I’m used to then you know, going to school and then practice and then coming home, it will be a completely different environment,” Gould said. “Marine biology has been something that I really wanted to go into since like my eighth grade year. And that school has a really good fresh water biology program. Once I got acquainted with the track and field coach there and found out I could be a part of the team, I knew that was the school I was going to commit to.”
