Senior Spotlight: Pickford’s Edington Prepares for Next Level at NMU

MISportsNow is putting the spotlight on northern Michigan high school senior student-athletes who had their seasons cut short due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Two-time all-state honoree and Pickford senior Nick Edington is taking his football talents to Northern Michigan University in the fall.

After guiding Pickford to back-to-back 8-player state finals appearances at NMU’s Superior Dome, Edington felt right at home in Marquette.

Edington is excited for another opportunity to continue his football career and is already preparing to adjust to the college game.

“We usually have like a zoom meeting once a week just to sit down, talk to and meet some of the guys over the phone,” Edington said. “They’re trying to keep us updated on what’s going on. Just yesterday, got a text saying we got to report a week early because we’ve got to get tested for the coronavirus.”

Edington plans to study criminal justice at NMU.

NMU’s first game is scheduled for Sept. 5 at McKendree.
