Evart Hosts Traditional Midnight Practice

EVART – As it has for several years, the Evart football program opened its season under the lights for its traditional midnight practice Monday.

It was an up-and-down season for the Wildcats last year. After starting 3-0 for the first time since 2013, Evart dropped its next four games before a win over Roscommon in Week 8 and a hard-fought loss to Harrison to the end year.

Evart did double its win total from 2017 to go 4-5 for the third time since 2015 and is hoping to build off its final two games.

“I think our offense is going to be really good,” Evart senior Reese Ransom said. “At the end of last year, we were firing on all cylinders.”

“In the middle of the season last year, in our league play, which is a very tough league from top to bottom, if you don’t stay healthy, you’re in trouble,” added coach Pat Craven. “We had some nicks and bruises here and there and that hurt us. We don’t have the depth to fight through some of those things, so we need to stay healthy.”

Evart opens Week 1 against Frankfort. The Wildcats won last year’s meeting 20-3.
