Mesick Looks to Duplicate 2019 Success

MESICK – As the Mesick football program prepares to open another season, it’s hoping to duplicate its historic 2019 campaign.

The Bulldogs won their first outright conference championship since 1972 a year ago and recorded their first winning season since 1999.

Mesick will have to replace nine seniors from last year’s squad that went 7-3 and reached the playoffs for a second time in three years.

The Bulldogs will be young on the line this fall, but have seven seniors stepping up at the skill positions.

“They really want to do the job,” Mesick coach Otto Ream said. “They want to win this next year. I think that’s a lot of it. They’re working hard. There have been times where they’re doing stuff on their own without us coaches. They got some pretty good leadership with the seniors, so I think that’s a big thing.”

“We’re hoping to do the same thing, but hopefully go farther,” added Mesick senior Gabe Parrish. “We kept a lot of strong players and we hope to keep doing well.”

Mesick opens its season on the road at Forest Area on Thursday, Aug. 27.
