Witteveen Steps Down at Hart
HART – Hart football coach Rick Witteveen has resigned following the MHSAA’s decision to postpone the high school football season until the spring.
Witteveen, who coached the Pirates the last four years, says it’s tough to leave under these circumstances, but he couldn’t dedicate his full time to the program while continuing to run his business in the spring.
“It still isn’t sitting real good with me, but it’s one I knew I had to make,” Witteveen said. “One for myself and my family, but also for the school and for the kids. That’s just as important to me to do right that way, to give them the amount of time necessary and the kids also.”
The Pirates went 4-29 in four years under Witteveen.
Witteveen still plans to attend games as a fan.
Hart is currently in the process of filling the head coaching position.
