Brett White Captures Turtle Creek Casino Michigan Open Championship

ACME – Caledonia’s Brett White captured the 103rd Turtle Creek Casino Michigan Open championship at The Bear at Grand Traverse Resort and Spa Thursday.

Mi Open R4 3A mini-tour professional, White led the four-round tournament wire-to-wire, netting a $16,000 payday after finishing at 12-under. White tallied six birdies and three bogeys Thursday.

Traverse City native and mini-tour professional Alex Scott finished second, recording a 2-under 70 Thursday to finish the tournament at 7-under.

Donnie Trosper and Chad Kurmel tied for third at 4-under. Traverse City’s Winton Munch was the biggest mover of the day Thursday, shooting a 7-under 65 to come tied for eighth at 1-under.Mi Open 5

Former PGA and Web.com Tour professional Doug LaBelle II of Mt. Pleasant finished tied for 23rd at 4-over while past champion Randall Hutchinson of Traverse City finished tied for 35th at 7-over. Hutchinson shot an 11-over 83 Thursday.

Traverse City Golf and Country Club PGA Professional Scott Hebert came home tied for 18th at 2-over. Hebert is a six-time Michigan Open winner.

The 103rd edition of the Michigan Open Championship featured the tournament’s largest-ever purse of $115,000.
