BEAL CITY – With the high school volleyball season now underway throughout Michigan, eight area players have been named to the American Volleyball Coaches Association’s Under Armour All-America watch list.
Among the 78 Michigan student-athletes to be named to the watch list, three are from Beal City. Beal City’s Sage Schumacher (middle blocker), Bailey Torpey (setter) and Macy VonDoloski (middle blocker) are joined by Macy Brown (Cadillac, outside hitter), Brooke Brauher (Morley Stanwood, middle hitter), Peyton Miller (Petoskey, setter), Emma Turnquist (Traverse City Central, outside hitter) and Alexis Strait (White Cloud, setter/outside hitter).
”I was really excited,” VonDoloski said. “There’s so many great athletes out there and I was just really shocked and just really excited that I could be a part of that.”
“Our leadership and our energy, how we hold ourselves and each other is super important,” added Schumacher. “It really is the chemistry and kind of vibe that is needed to win and stuff.”
The AVCA will announce its High School All-Region teams on Wednesday, Nov. 4, and its Under Armour All-America will be unveiled on Wednesday, Nov. 11.
