CADILLAC – The Cadillac girls soccer program will have a familiar face as its new head coach for the upcoming season as Joy Weitzel takes over the reins.

Weitzel, who spent the previous four seasons as Cadillac’s JV coach, replaces Jen VanNoord who departed for McBain Northern Michigan’s girls soccer program after 18 years with Cadillac.

Weitzel inherits a Viking program that won more than 200 games, four Big North Conference championships and a district title over the course of VanNoord’s 18 years.

“I’m really excited,” Weitzel said. “Jen did some great thing with this program from taking it from basically nothing to being super successful. Just the four years I had coaching under her were really great. She was a great mentor to me and hopefully I can continue that.”

Weitzel played soccer collegiately at Spring Arbor and went to high school in the Grand Rapids area.
