Annual Scott Miller Memorial Tournament Canceled for 2020

TRAVERSE CITY – With the current suspension of high school sports and the unknowns we still have with COVID-19, cancellations of bigger events this winter have started, including Traverse City Central’s annual Scott Miller Memorial Tournament.

It usually brings multiple high-caliber teams to Traverse City, like Midland, Saginaw Heritage, Salem, play against Traverse City Central, Traverse City West and the Bay Reps.

However, with all things considered, the Trojans made the tough choice to cancel the tournament this year.

“We looked at different dates and some things to try and get that to work, but you know when the kids are on holiday break it’s a little bit different to have them out of school for three days and things like that,” Central coach Chris Givens said. “And not knowing where things were going to be in January and February, it just wasn’t going to work, and so we had to go ahead and cancel that unfortunately.”

The Trojans are tentatively scheduled to start their season in the beginning of January.
