CMU Will Still Play Western This Week
MOUNT PLEASANT – The Central Michigan football team will still play this coming Wednesday.
The Chippewas are set to take on rival Western Michigan on November 18 at 7 pm at Kelly/Shorts Stadium.
CMU meets the requirements to be able to play set forward by the MAC and the state of Michigan with specific COVID-19 protocols in place.
Due to the new state orders, they will not be allowing fans at the games. Before the order, players from each team were allowed fans and the CMU marching band was in the stands.
“The health and safety of our student-athletes, coaches and staff remains our top priority and we continue to follow the standards set forth by our medical and health leadership,” CMU athletic director Amy Folan said in a statement. “We hope all our great fans tune in on Wednesday to watch one of the great rivalries in college football.”
Central Michigan University says they are still examining the emergency order and will have more updates in the next few days.
