MT. PLEASANT – Kobe Lewis rushed for 112 yards and two scores as Central Michigan opened its 2020 season with a 30-27 win over Ohio in Mid-American Conference play at Kelly/Shorts Stadium on Wednesday.
Marshall Meeder connected on the game-winning 22-yard field goal with 9:05 remaining in regulation.
Daniel Richardson was 23-of-41 for 243 yards and a score in his debut under center for the Chippewas.
With the game tied at 7-7 late in the first quarter, Kalil Pimpleton put CMU ahead on a 50-yard touchdown reception from Richardson as the Chippewas took a 14-7 lead.
Ok this was honestly awesome! The new entrance to the field being through the Chippewa Champion Center will be even cooler when fans can be allowed at the stadium.

Pimpleton caught five passes for 65 yards on the night while Dallas Dixon tallied three catches for 24 yards.
Following a lengthy delay late in the second quarter because of an issue with the stadium lights, Ohio went ahead for only time Wednesday on a 93-yard kickoff return for a touchdown by De’Montre Tuggle to open the third quarter.
Lewis would respond for CMU on the ensuing drive with an 8-yard scamper to tie the game at 27-27 with 10:36 left in the third quarter.
The Chippewas recorded five sacks and recovered two fumbles.
CMU is back in action next Wednesday at Northern Illinois. Kickoff is set for 8 p.m.
