No. 3 Cadillac Sweeps Escanaba for Regional Title

HOUGHTON LAKE – The third-ranked Cadillac volleyball program captured a Division 2 regional championship with a 3-0 win over Escanaba on Thursday.

The Vikings, who were making their 12th straight regional final appearance Thursday, won by scores of 25-21, 25-20, 25-17.

Thursday’s win marked the 12th regional championship in the last 14 years under coach Michelle Brines.

“I think just having consistency in the program and that’s always the goal is to be here and win this,” Brines said. “We’re just going to work on getting better, see who our opponent is, scout them out, work on things that we need to work on and play really hard on Tuesday night and relish the opportunity.”

Cadillac will now face Birch Run in a state quarterfinal at Alma on Tuesday. Birch Run swept Saginaw Swan Valley on Thursday.

Tuesday’s quarterfinal is set for 6 p.m.
