A Closer Look at MHSAA’s Coronavirus Data
As fall and winter high school sports remain on hold in Michigan, the Michigan High School Athletic Association has released data that it has been using to argue for the continuation of high school sports.
Throughout the nine-week football season, 121 teams quarantined because of coronavirus concerns, an average of less than 3% per week. More than 92% of football teams that were eligible to play participated in the most recent week of the season, which represented the week of 11-player district finals and 8-player regional finals.
MISportsNow further broke down the number of teams that played each week and the number of teams quarantined each week and compared those numbers between the first four weeks of the season and the final five weeks of the 2020 football season.
