Draper Excited to Tip Off First Season at TC Central

TRAVERSE CITY – With fall and winter high school sports still on hold in Michigan, Traverse City Central waits to tip off a new season under a new coach.

Stephen Draper was hired in September to replace Travis Schuba who stepped down in June to accept the head assistant coaching position with Davenport University’s women’s basketball program.Tcc Bbb Draper Vo

Prior to Albion College, Draper began his coaching career at Holt High School as an assistant coach before moving on to Marietta (Ohio) College.

Draper comes to Central after three years as an assistant coach with Albion College’s men’s basketball program. The Britons went 40-14 over the last two seasons.

“The biggest thing that I’ve been excited about and taking advantage of so far is just being a part of this community of coaches and staff that are so committed to finding ways to succeed even against all of these challenges,” Draper said. “I think we have great group of guys and I’m enjoying the virtual meetings, but there’s something different about being in the gym with all of our guys for sure.”

Draper inherits a Central program that went 19-3 a year ago and won a share of a Big North Conference championship.
