BIG RAPIDS β The preseason polls for the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference have been released for menβs and womenβs basketball.
Both Ferris State squads were picked to win their divisions. The men and women both won the North division for the 2019-2020 season.

The menβs team, who has been nationally ranked, got 60 points in the poll with 10 first-place votes. Last year, they won the GLIAC for the third time in the last four seasons, with a record of 27-6. They were enroute to play in the national tournament that was canceled due to COVID-19.
Lake Superior State was picked to finish third, with 40 points and one first-place vote.

The womenβs team received 53 points with six first-place votes to be tabbed No. 1. The Bulldogs welcome in a new head coach, Kurt Westendorp, who served as an assistant for FSU from 2010-2012. Last season, they won the divisional crown and earned a spot in the national tournament for the first time in eight years.
Lake Superior State was picked sixth in the North Division, receiving 11 points.
Both Bulldog teams are set to begin conference play agaisnt Ashland on January 8th.
