PHILADELPHIA — The Philadelphia Eagles’ organization announced on Wednesday that St. Ignace alum and former Central Michigan football star Joe Ostman will be the team’s recipient of the Ed Block Courage Award. It is given to a player that best “exemplifies commitment to the principles of sportsmanship and courage,” and it is voted on by his teammates.
Congratulations to Joe Ostman, voted by his teammates as our 2020 Ed Block Courage Award recipient!#FlyEaglesFly

Ostman made his first appearance in an NFL game this season, when he got called up from the practice squad for the Eagles’ game against the Browns in week 11. He played 14 snaps on defense and special teams. This came after Ostman had to sit out all of last season due to an ACL injury during training camp. He talked with MiSportsNow about his recovery from that injury in a podcast back in May.
Ostman has been with the Eagles for three seasons. He was one of the top pass rushers in CMU history, finishing second in career sacks and tackles for loss.
