Volleyball, Swimming and Diving to Restart on Jan. 4

The MHSAA announced on Tuesday that the remaining 32 teams and individuals of high school volleyball and swimming and diving would be able to restart on Monday, January 4.

Both sports will be part of the rapid testing pilot program created by the MDHHS, which means they will get tested three times a week. Athletes, coaches, and other team personnel must all be tested for teams to participate.

Each team will have to go through one round of testing with negative results to be able to practice.

Volleyball will begin competition on January 12 for quarterfinals. Semifinals will be over January 14-15. The finals will be held on January 16. Semifinals and finals will be held at Kellogg Arena in Battle Creek.

Swimming and diving will hold their finals over January 15 and 16. Division 1 will be held at Hudsonville High School, Division 2 will be held at Northview High School and Division 3 will be held at Lake Orion.

Spectators will not be allowed at any games.

The remaining local teams are:

  • Cadillac (plays Birch Run at Alma)
  • Beaverton (plays Calumet at Houghton Lake)
  • Mesick (plays Fowler at Manton)
  • Rudyard (plays Carney Nadeau at Manistique)
