Cadillac, Forest Hills Eastern to Clash in D4 Regional Final
After a two-month layoff, the Cadillac football team is back on the gridiron this weekend in search of its first regional championship.
The Vikings (6-2) welcome in Forest Hills Eastern (6-3) for a Division 4 regional final.
Cadillac won its second straight district title with a victory over Sault Ste. Marie back in November and has adjusted well since the layoff and to the winter conditions.
“Our guys have retained quite a bit,” Cadillac coach Cody Mallory said. “I feel like we could have played this game last weekend. It’s been a struggle but we also feel just very blessed to have the opportunities that we’ve had thus far. ”
“It’s easy for us now because we haven’t played in so long, we just can’t wait to get back on the field and play another team and it’s January and so nobody has ever played in January,” added Cadillac senior Colin Hess. “We can’t wait to play on Saturday and hopefully we get a couple more weeks.”
A win Saturday for Forest Hills Eastern would give the Hawks their first regional title since 2015 and second since the school opened in 2004.
The Hawks took down Allendale (42-0), Spring Lake (28-21) and Whitehall (41-13) to reach the regional final.
The winner of Saturday’s contest will face either Grand Rapids South Christian (8-1) or Edwardsburg (8-0) in a state semifinal next week.
Kickoff Saturday is slated for 1 p.m.
