Cadillac’s Postseason Run Ends Against G.R. Christian in Semis

BATTLE CREEK — Cadillac put up a good fight in its Div. 2 semifinal matchup against Grand Rapids Christian, but the 2-time reigning champ proved to be too tough for the Vikings, sweeping them, 25-21, 25-13, 25-11.

The Vikings appeared in their first state semifinal since 2016, and it’s been a thrilling road to Battle Creek, which included a come-from-behind win in the quarterfinals.

“For us to come down here and play really hard and especially with this COVID situation, being off for 60 days, I’m just super proud and happy,” Cadillac coach Michelle Brines said. “They represented Cadillac excellent.”

“We’ll have a lot of experience next year, which I think would be really great,” Cadillac junior Renee Brines said. “We have five juniors, so I think we should be ready for what’s to come.”

Cadillac ends its season with a 43-6 record, while Grand Rapids Christian looks to win its third straight title on Saturday.
