CMU Women’s Soccer Hires TC West Alum Wheelock as Assistant Coach

The Central Michigan women’s soccer program has hired Cedar native and Traverse City West alum Keyton Wheelock as an assistant coach.

“I’m really happy that we have again attracted a quality assistant coach to our program,” CMU head coach Jeremy Groves said in a statement. “Keyton is proven at a high level. To have this type of experience is going to be huge. I’m so excited to welcome Keyton to CMU. She is going to help us reach our goals of taking CMU back to the top of the conference.”

Wheelock was a goalkeeper for the Traverse City West girls soccer team and recorded 61 career shutouts.

Wheelock most recently served as head coach of Louisiana Monroe’s women’s soccer team from 2016-19, earning Sun Belt Conference Coach of the Year honors in 2016.

She began her collegiate coaching career at NCAA Division II Tusculum (Tenn.) College and later served as an assistant at South Alabama.

Wheelock played one year collegiately at the University of South Dakota before transferring to Division II Concordia (Minn.) University for her final three years.
