Inland Lakes Forfeits State Semifinal Game Against Suttons Bay

Inland Lakes has announced that it is forfeiting Saturday’s 8-player Division 1 state semifinal against Suttons Bay because of coronavirus concerns.

Suttons Bay (10-0) will now advance to its second straight Division 1 state championship appearance and will face either Adrian Lenawee Christian or Martin next week.

With the forfeit, Inland Lakes concludes its season at 8-2. The Bulldogs won their first-ever MHSAA postseason football title this year.

“You feel like you’ve been strung along a little bit to a disappointing end but like what we told the kids today, if you would’ve told us in August we would get to play 9 games this year we would’ve been pretty pumped and would’ve taken it no questions asked,” said head coach Travis Meyer.  “So we’re trying to focus on how exciting the season was.”

Inland Lakes was participating in its first season of 8-player football after going 0-18 over the previous two years.
