Lake Superior State Hockey Falls to Minnesota State in WCHA Opener

SAULT STE. MARIE — Lake Superior State lost its conference opener in hockey on Friday to Minnesota State, 3-0, at home.

The Mavericks scored two of their goals in the second period, with Julian Napravnik and Wyatt Aamodt able to score on Mareks Mitens. They added an empty-net goal near the end of the third.

Mitens had 24 saves in net, while Dryden McKay had 23 saves in the shutout.

Minnesota State improves to 6-1-1, while Lake Superior State falls to 6-2-3. The two teams will play again on Saturday at 5:07 p.m. in Sault Ste. Marie.
