Lake Superior State Snaps Losing Streak Against Ferris State
BIG RAPIDS — Lake Superior State snapped its three-game losing streak, picking up an 80-69 victory over Ferris State on the road Tuesday in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.
The Lakers had five players score in double digits, led by Kemon Bassett, who finished the night with 16 points and 10 rebounds. Walt Kelser led the way for Ferris State with 23 points.
“We’ve had such great battles with Coach (Andy) Bronkema and his staff, and I have a lot of respect for him and his program. And it doesn’t really matter to either one of us, we battle each other hard,” LSSU head coach Steve Hettinga said. “We’ve struggled a little bit. We lost two in a row at home and we’re usually a really good home team. Our games, short turn around for both teams. I liked our fight. Our guys hung together. We certainly played our best game of the year tonight. Happy as all get out to get the win.”
With the win, Lake Superior State improves to 3-4 overall and in the GLIAC. Ferris State is now 4-6 overall and 3-4 in the GLIAC.
