Mt. Pleasant Native Mike LaFleur Named New York Jets Offensive Coordinator

Mt. Pleasant native Mike LaFleur has been named the offensive coordinator of the New York Jets.

LaFleur spent the previous two years as the passing game coordinator of the San Francisco 49ers and comes over to the Jets with Dearborn native Robert Saleh who was San Francisco’s offensive coordinator since 2017. Saleh was named head coach of the Jets on Thursday and is the first Muslim head coach in NFL history.

LaFleur is the younger brother of Green Bay Packers head coach Matt LaFleur. The younger LaFleur played collegiately at Elmhurst (Ill.) College and began his coaching career at Elmhurst.

LaFleur’s first NFL coaching position was as an offensive intern with the Cleveland Browns in 2014. He also spent time with Atlanta Falcons (2015-16) as an offensive assistant before joining the 49ers in 2017 as the passing game coordinator and wide receivers coach.
