Reports: Stafford, Lions Expected to Part Ways

The Matthew Stafford era in Detroit appears to be coming to an end.

Per sources NFL insider sources, in an arrangement the two sides have discussed and mutually agreed upon, the Detroit Lions and quarterback Matthew Stafford are expected to part ways this off-season, with Detroit listening to trade offers for its former No. 1 overall pick starting this week.

Drafted in 2009, Stafford has spent his entire 12-year career in Detroit, setting franchise records with 45,109 passing yards and 282 touchdown passes while playing through a handful of injuries under three different head coaches.

The Detroit Lions began rebuilding this year’s team with the hiring of Dan Campbell as the new head coach, Brad Holmes as the new general manager and recently Saturday evening Aaron Lynn was named the defense coordinator.
