St. Francis Preps for Semifinal Showdown with Cass City
TRAVERSE CITY – For the fourth time since 2015, Traverse City St. Francis will make a state semifinal appearance.
St. Francis hits the road Saturday to take on Cass City (10-0) in a Division 7 semifinal.
The Gladiators (8-2) have not played a game since two-month layoff started in mid-November. St. Francis was awarded a forfeit win over Oscoda in last week’s regional final after the Owls had low numbers return to camp in December.

Cass City is in the Division 7 semifinals for a second straight year and second time in program history. The Owls rolled past top-ranked Ithaca in last week’s regional championship game 50-24.
“To run the ball for 470 yards and to score 50 points on a No. 1 Ithaca team, that says a lot,” St. Francis coach Josh Sellers said of Cass City. “So I think that got our kids attention and I think it got the attention of a lot of people around the state. So we understand that we have a job to do Saturday and we’re going to have to hit on all cylinders to get it done.”
“They’re a very talented team,” added St. Francis senior Owen Mueller. “They’re very strong kids but I think we have more depth than them and it’ll be a very fun matchup. A lot of hard-hitting, down in the trenches, it’ll be awesome.”
