Cadillac Ski Teams Prepare for Finals
CADILLAC — The Cadillac boys and girls ski teams secured another trip to the state finals after the boys team won their regional and the girls came in second place.
“All top four of our girls put in some good runs, we all finished,” Cadillac sophomore Georgette Sake said. “We skied strong. I think it was a really good meet.”
The Vikings now prepare for the state finals, where last season, both teams finished in sixth place. The Cadillac boys team last won a state title in 1980 and they last finished in the top two in 2014. The girls team has been in the top two 14 times, with their last title in 1990.
“It is kind of an expectation to hold up,” Cadillac junior Elliot Lavigne said. “I think Cadillac is known for skiing.”
“Even as of last week, we started to prep a little more for steeper terrain, which we’ll have at the state finals up at Boyne Highlands so that’s what we’ve been doing,” Cadillac coach James Netzley said. “Working on some consistency and trying to put some better turns together on some steeper terrain where the other schools get to train on quite a bit.”
The Vikings will compete in the Div. 2 state finals on Monday at Boyne Highlands.
