Elk Rapids’ LaFontaine Ready for Hillsdale

ELK RAPIDS — Gordie LaFontaine had an impressive high school football career, and the Elk Rapids senior is ready to take the next step after signing with Hillsdale.

LaFontaine set the school’s passing record during his time with the Elks, which moved him past former Elk Rapids quarterback Adam Trautman, who just finished his rookie year with the New Orleans Saints as a tight end.

“Growing up in Elk Rapids and seeing people like Adam Trautman, it’s just been an inspiration to just try to do more and go to the next level,” LaFontaine said. “I mean ever since I started playing varsity my sophomore year, that’s kinda been my goal is to play college at the highest level I could and getting that opportunity at such a great college like Hillsdale and kind of my dream college.”

LaFontaine said he plans to pursue a degree in sports management.
