Ferris State Bests Grand Valley State, Wins Third Straight Game
BIG RAPIDS — Ferris State held off a comeback from Grand Valley State in the second half to pick up its third straight win on Friday, 68-65.
The Bulldogs led 63-54 with 4:23 left to go in the second half, but the Lakers went on a 11-3 run, capped off my a Christian Negron dunk with 26 seconds left to pull them within one point.
Following a pair of made free throws from Deng Reng, Ferris State’s defense held tough as GVSU missed a pair of three pointers to end the game.
Walt Kelser led the Bulldogs with 20 points, while Michael Peterson had 19 points. Grand Valley State had four players score in double digits, led by Jake Van Tubbergen’s 19 points.
Ferris State improves to 7-6 overall and 6-4 in conference play with the win. The two teams will play again on Saturday at 3 p.m.
