Petoskey Ski Teams Gear Up For State Finals Meet

PETOSKEY — The Petoskey boys and girls ski teams clinched another trip to the state finals after both teams recorded runner-up finishes at the Big North Conference Finals meet.

The elite and historic program now seeks its 32nd overall program title in school history. After the boys brought home the Division 2 title last year and the girls were runners-up in 2019, that seems like a very possible feat in 2021.

“We’re all thrilled, like we obviously didn’t know how the season was gonna go, we didn’t even know if we were gonna get a state meet,” Junior Lauren Rothman said. “So, we’re all just super thrilled to go out, show off our hard work and see what we can do.”

“Everyone’s been working hard all season, we’re all ready, everyone’s healthy and we’re excited to give it our all. Just winning the state title, you know getting everyone down I think that’s our main goal,” Senior Michael Iverson said. “We always have that expectation for us especially with this program and we’re going out there to really win that championship.”

The boys and girls Division 1 state finals will take place at Nub’s Nob and the Division 2 meet will be at Boyne Highlands on Monday, Feb. 22.
