“We’ve always talked about from the beginning of the year, from November actually, we have these rafters up here and signs in the gym, Elk Rapids hasn’t won a conference championship since 1993,” Elk Rapids coach Mike Brown said. “We talked about that and made it our number one goal of the year.”

With one game left in the regular season, the Elks (14-1, 13-0) are the lone remaining team with a perfect record in LMC play.

“We have a really deep team this year,” Elk Rapids junior Gabby Krakow said. “We have 13 girls that can all play. We can sub five and five, if we need to, we run a lot, we’re just really deep.”

Elk Rapids travels to Charlevoix on Friday to close out its regular season.
