Fortier Takes Over at Shelby
SHELBY – Phil Fortier will take over the reins of Shelby’s football program this fall.
This marks Fortier’s third high school head coaching job, with previous stints at Manistee Catholic Central and Big Rapids.
Fortier inherits a program that has just two wins over the last six years, and his first goal is to increase player participation numbers.
“I wanna see our roster full. I want numbers way up. And I want us to have fun playing football again,” Fortier said. “That joy that comes from playing the game. If those two things can happen going into the season, I think it’s going to be a very successful one because that’s going to drive your program for years to come.”
Fortier will look to guide Shelby to its first winning campaign since 2013.
