Hart Hires Joe Tanis as New Football Coach
Hart has named former Muskegon Orchard View head coach Joe Tanis its new varsity coach.
Tanis began his coaching career as a student assistant and wide receivers coach at Olivet College (2007-10) before spending time as an assistant coach at Galesburg Augusta (2008), Northern Michigan University (2009-10), Napoleon (2011), Ravenna (2019) and Wyoming (2020).
Tanis says he sees the position at Hart as an opportunity to help a program grow and build a culture of making the playoffs. The Pirates are seeking their first winning season since going 5-4 in 1997.
“When you can get people to show up consistently and give you their best effort day after day, I feel like the results will take care of themselves,” Tanis said. “Obviously we want to make the playoffs here in the next couple years and do that back to back and keep pushing it from there.”
Tanis inherits a Hart program that went 1-6 in 2020 and reached the postseason for the first time.
Hart is slated to open its 2021 campaign against Holton.
