TC Christian’s Wendel Finishes Runner-Up at Individual States

Individual state championships were held across the state for boys and girls bowling.

Division 1 was held at Thunderbowl in Allen Park. Traverse City West’s Jordan LaFleur placed 20th in qualifying and Taylor Phillips in 24th. In the boys, Jeremy Decker placed 28th in qualifying.

Century Bowl in Waterford hosted Division 2. In boys, Cadillac’s Dylan Vermilyea placed 29th in qualifying, while Gaylord’s Parker Zeilinger placed 57th. For the girls, Ludington’s Bailey Streeter placed 29th in qualifying and Mount Pleasant’s Madison Reinking finished 46th.

At JAX60 for Division Three, three local bowlers qualified for match play, including Cheboygan’s Cole Swanberg and Boyne City’s Michael Deming and Zach Hardy. Deming and Swanberg won their first round, but dropped the next round.

The Division Three girls finals were also held in Jackson. Central Montcalm’s Arabella Huntoon and Cheboygan’s Morgan Jones made it to match play. Huntoon made it to the semifinals, while Jones won her first match.

Division Four was held in Canton at Superbowl. For the boys, four bowlers made it to match play: Traverse City Christian’s Hunter Haldaman, Beaverton’s Xander Dell, Lakeview’s Riley Devereaux and Baldwin’s Jesse Pancio. Pancio won his first match and Haldaman made it to the semifinals before being eliminated.

For the girls, three bowlers made it to match play including Traverse City Christian’s Ella Wendel, Glen Lake’s Chloe Crick and Beaverton’s Becca Claypool. Wendel made it to the finals, but fell to Gobles’ Morgan Brunner, but she earned the runner-up title.
