Three Local Wrestling Teams Fall in Quarterfinals

KALAMAZOO — Hart, Fremont and Whittemore-Prescott all had their runs in the postseason end in the state quarterfinals on Tuesday at the Wings Event Center in Kalamazoo.

Whittemore-Prescott, the No. 4 seed in Division 4, had a tough match with No. 5 Leslie, falling 44-36. The previously-undefeated Cardinals finish the season with a 25-1 record. They were in the quarterfinals for the first time since 2006.

Hart had its run end against the No. 2 seed in Division 3, Whitehall. The Pirates lost, 41-23. They made their second straight quarterfinal appearance and end their season with a 26-5 record.

Fremont, a No. 5 seed in Division 2, had a tough matchup with No. 4 Monroe Jefferson, and the Packers lost, 49-19. With the loss, Fremont falls to 26-3 on the year. They made the quarterfinals for the second straight season.
