Ben Ferris Steps Down at Great North Alpine Program

TRAVERSE CITY – After several successful seasons with the Great North Alpine ski team, head coach Ben Ferris has stepped down to spend more time with his family.

Ferris coached GNP’s boys and girls programs since 2015, leading the teams to five straight conference championships and three consecutive regional titles. Under his direction, the girls team claimed the 2016 MHSAA Division 2 state title while the boys won the 2019 Division 2 championship.

“We won one at St. Francis in 2016 and then one more recently in 2019 with the boys. It was outstanding,” Ferris said. “It was amazing that I had my son there and Steve, he skied amazing that day. The day they won, the boys literally skied the perfect race. You don’t get all six boys finishing all four runs all day long like ever.”

Traverse City St. Francis is currently in the process of hiring a replacement for Ferris.
