Ferris State Shuts Out Saginaw Valley State in GLIAC Tournament Opener

BIG RAPIDS – Top seed Ferris State opened the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference women’s soccer tournament with a 3-0 win over Saginaw Valley State on Tuesday.

GLIAC regular season champions for the first time in program history, the Bulldogs (8-0-1) broke a scoreless tie in the opening minute of the second half Tuesday on Gabrielle Teodorescu’s goal.

Bri Rogers and Pia Nagel added insurance goals in the 54th and 74th minutes, respectively, as Taryn Meiste earned the win in goal with two saves.

Ferris State held a 17-2 edge on shots on goal and 10-3 on corner kicks.

Ferris State will host Grand Valley State (4-1-1) in a tournament semifinal Friday. GVSU handed Michigan Tech a 6-3 loss Tuesday.
