Former CMU Standout Micaela Kelly Drafted by Connecticut Sun
Former Central Michigan standout guard Micaela Kelly was selected by the Connecticut Sun with the 21st overall pick in the second round of the 2021 WNBA Draft Thursday evening.
Kelly is the second CMU player ever to be selected in the WNBA Draft, joining Crystal Bradford who went to the Los Angeles Sparks in the first round of the 2015 draft. Kelly’s former teammates Reyna Frost, Presley Hudson, Tinara Moore and Cassie Breen have all played professionally overseas.

Kelly, 5-foot-6, was named the 2019-20 Mid-American Conference Player of the Year and received All-MAC First Team honors this winter. After leading CMU to another MAC Tournament championship and NCAA Tournament this year, Kelly declared for the WNBA Draft.
A Detroit native, Kelly finished her collegiate having earned all-conference honors four times and ranks second all-time in CMU scoring history. During Kelly’s career, the Chippewas won four MAC titles and made three NCAA Tournament appearances.
