Grand Valley State Sweeps Doubleheader with Ferris State

BIG RAPIDS – The Ferris State softball team dropped both ends of a GLIAC doubleheader to visiting Grand Valley State Wednesday.

The Lakers (25-2, 16-2) opened the doubleheader with a 2-0 win and rallied in the nightcap for a 6-3 victory.

GVSU stretched single runs across in the plate in the fourth and fifth innings in the opener.

Aryn Gallacher was saddled with the loss, surrendering two earned runs on seven hits while striking out two and walking four across seven innings.

Hannah Beatus struck out nine and allowed five runs and two walks over seven innings in the win.

Kacey Bouche led the Bulldogs (10-13, 3-10) in the opener, going 2-for-2 at the plate.

Ferris State held a 2-0 lead after the first inning in the nightcap and led 3-1 through two innings before GSVU rallied with three runs in the third.

Kodi Ramirez went 3-for-4 at the plate for the Bulldogs while Kylie Winkles was 2-for-3 with an RBI and run scored.

Kristie Gray allowed six earned runs on nine hits and two walks while fanning three over seven innings in the loss.

Ferris State returns to action Sunday afternoon in a doubleheader at Northwood. First pitch is set for noon.
