Sanford Meridian’s Dodman Wins D3 152-Pound Title

Sanford Meridian’s Nick Dodman captured the MHSAA Division 3 152 pound state championship at Kalamazoo’s Wings Event Center Friday.

Kingsley’s Aidan Shier came home in eighth at 152 pounds.

Gladwin’s Randy Pyrzewski finished runner-up at 171 pounds and Kingsley’s Gavyn Merchant was second at 112 pounds.

At 189 pounds, Trenten Wiggins of Chippewa Hills finished third while Kingsley’s Samuel Goethals came home in fifth and Sanford Meridian’s Jake Schultz defeated Tri County’s Jake Nelson in the seventh-place match.

Gladwin’s Hunter Huguelet recorded a third-place finish at 215 pounds while Hart’s Mason Cantu finished third at 145 pounds.

Boyne City’s Jordan McBee registered an eighth-place finish at 130 pounds.

Hart’s Trayce Tate came home in fourth at 119 pounds while Gavin Miller of Chippewa Hills was eighth.

Kingsley’s Kyan Fessenden finished fourth at 160 pounds while Hart’s Thomas Tanner came home eighth at 160.

Colby Roosa of Chippewa Hills finished sixth at 285 pounds while Shepherd’s Caleb Cline came home in eighth at 125 pounds and Benzie Central’s Sam Ross finished in sixth at 140 pounds.

At the Division 2 finals at Van Andel Arena in Grand Rapids, Fremont’s RJ Thome came home in fourth at 103 pounds while teammate Tee Ward finished fourth at 112 pounds and Trey Myers finished eighth at 130 pounds.

Gaylord’s Quinn Schultz finished sixth at 171 pounds while Petoskey’s Trevor Swiss finished eighth at 140.
