Sneed Steps Down at Glen Lake

Nate Sneed

MAPLE CITY – Glen Lake announced the resignation of varsity football coach Nate Sneed Thursday.

Sneed, who is also the school’s JV boys basketball coach and the secondary student interventionist, will finish out the school year before moving on to a teaching and coaching position outside the school district.

In Sneed’s lone season as head coach, the Lakers went 5-3 overall and recorded a 50-8 playoff win over Elk Rapids. He also led the JV boys basketball team to a 12-1 record in 2021 and went 49-5 over three years in that position.

“I am grateful for the opportunities that Glen Lake has provided me over the past five years,” Sneed said in a statement. “The relationships built during my time here have been formative and special as a young teacher and coach. I never envisioned leaving this place, but there is always a plan that even I don’t fully comprehend. I have been unbelievably fortunate to serve these fine young men on both the football field and basketball court, as well as our students in the classrooms and hallways at Glen Lake.”

A coaching search is already underway.
