St. Francis Takes Two From Kingsley

KINGSLEY – The Traverse City St. Francis softball team ran its record to 10-0 with a doubleheader sweep of Kingsley Wednesday.

The Gladiators won by scores of 8-4 and 12-7.

Camryn Craig earned the win in the opener, striking out six and walking two while allowing seven runs (five earned) on 11 hits.

Campbell Domres and Sophie Hardy homered for St. Francis in the opener, with Hardy going 3-for-4 with three RBI and two runs scored. Brooke Meeker also went 3-for-4 with 3 RBI.

In the nightcap, Leah Simetz fanned nine batter and issued five walks while allowing four runs (one earned) on four hits. Simetz helped her cause by homering twice in the win. She drove in four runs and scored twice.

Craig had a double and a triple in the second game.

St. Francis hosts Benzie Central, Evart and Kingsley in a four-team tournament Saturday.
