Big Rapids Blanks Newaygo In CSAA Showdown

BIG RAPIDS – At the beginning of this week, there were three teams in the CSAA that had perfect conference records.

Both Big Rapids and Newaygo picked up important wins over Tri-County to continue that unblemished streak.

On Friday night, the Cardinals and the Lions battled for first place in the conference at Ferris State.

In the first half, Big Rapids got on the board with a header goal off a corner kick by Ariana Costie, who was assisted by Emily Morrone.

Newaygo held BR to one goal in the first half.

The Cardinals went on to score two more goals by Katie Williams and Teresa Vance in the second half.

Big Rapids picked up the win 3-0, moving them to 8-3 overall and 6-0 in conference.

This was the Lions’ first loss of the season, bringing them to 8-1-2 overall and 4-1-2 in conference.
