Three Local Athletes Receive MHSCA Multi-Sport Award

The Michigan High School Coaches Association announced its eight finalists for the Rich Tompkins Multi-Sport Award, with three local student-athletes recognized.

Benzie Central’s Ellen Bretzke and Sampson Ross swept the awards in Class B. Mason County Eastern’s Jessica Smith also received the honor for Class D girls.

According to the MHSCA, a “nominee’s selection has been based on their participation in interscholastic athletics and a letter award winner in 12 or more sports during an athlete’s high school career, along with their contribution to the sport, school, and community.”

Here’s the list of the eight honorees:

  • Mia Rzepka from Coldwater High School Class A Girls
  • Kade Manzo from Lake Orion High School Class A Boys
  • Ellen Bretzke from Benzie Central High School Class B Girls
  • Sampson Ross from Benzie Central High School Class B Boys
  • Kallie Harrison from Bloomingdale High School Class C Girls
  • Camden Orr from New Lothrop High School Class C Boys
  • Jessica Smith from Mason County Eastern High School Class D Girls
  • Carson Voss from Dansville High School Class D Boys
