Boyne City Wins District Title Over Cheboygan

ELK RAPIDS — Boyne City jumped out to a 6-0 lead at halftime and defeated Cheboygan, 8-0, for the Div. 3 district title.

“I think a lot of just heart went into this game and a lot of determination and we really just wanted to give it our all,” said Boyne City sophomore Reagan Woodall, who had four goals in the game. “It’s really amazing. It feels so good.”

It marks the second straight and second overall district title for Boyne City.

“A lot of it is just remembering how it felt two seasons ago and trying to recapture that,” Boyne City coach Ed Fantozzi said. “And they came out and that’s what they did. They came out hungry, and I’m so happy for them.”

The Ramblers will advance to regional semis where they will face Grand Rapids West Catholic on Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Comstock Park.
