Cadillac Defeats Gaylord to Capture District Title

CADILLAC — The Cadillac girls soccer team scored 4 goals in the second half and shut out Gaylord 5-0 to capture the Div. 2 district title on Saturday.

The district championship marks the first since 2017 for the Vikings and the second ever in program history.

The district title also comes as the first hardware for first year head coach at Cadillac, Joy Weitzel.

“We have a really good group of girls, we’re strong players and it feels so good to check this one off on the list,” head coach Joy Weitzel said. “So we’re looking forward to who we play next.”

“It’s awesome. Our team is just a perfect dynamic and we were just ready for this and we’ve been wanting this for a while now and now we’re getting ready for regionals,” Cadillac senior Molly Anderson said.

Cadillac will now face Cedar Springs at their home field in the regional semifinals on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
