Charlevoix’s Postseason Runs Ends in Quarterfinals

CADILLAC — Charlevoix fought hard to come back against Standish-Sterling on Tuesday in the Div. 3 state quarterfinal in softball, but the Rayders’ comeback fell short, losing 15-13.

Charlevoix trailed 10-1 at one point during the game, but came back to trail 11-10 in the bottom of the sixth.

“It’s going to be really hard to let go and not have this chemistry that we have but we’ll all come back together all the time,” Charlevoix senior Zoe Brodin said.

“It’s awesome to end it like this,” Charlevoix senior Avery Zipp said. “In Little League we all played together. We knew this year was going to be really special and we were like ‘Oh, this year we’re going to achieve so much’ but we never knew it was going to go this far so it’s just really awesome.”

The Rayders’ loss ends a historic season for them, which included winning their first regional title in program history.
